Softening Into Your Own Natural Rhythm

It’s just turning spring here in my corner of the world, and I’m sitting in the sun, immersed in a canopy of green. I’ve been watching the leaves emerge the last few weeks, something I love to do at this time of year — all the different greens, and that magical feeling when fresh sunlight streams through.

You might live in a region without such a pronounced change of seasons, but maybe you know this feeling, the energy of spring, in another way.

Like how I used to feel living in Kenya in September — coming out of the long, misty, cold months and enjoying that crisp highland sun, seeing the jacaranda trees beginning their visible journey into a burst of purple flowers. And at some point, they would gift a short-lived carpet of soft, bright purple, almost overnight, for those who walked underneath them. I loved the quality of the energy and the light, that spring feeling of crisp beginnings.

Spring — the season of visible, tangible growth, the season of exquisite relishing and noticing, of new light and fresh clarity — is also the season where you might feel a pull to move forward, or that you should be growing and blossoming in some defined way at the least.

Moving from winter into spring teaches us that no matter what the season, the most profound growth happens not when we force ourselves forward, but when we allow ourselves to be and move naturally, held by the greater rhythms and cycles within ourselves and around us.

In the heart of spring, the tulip suddenly stands quietly in the garden — strong, bright, graceful, and quietly powerful. It doesn't rush to bloom before its time. It doesn't question whether it deserves the light, or whether it fits into its surroundings. It simply rises, day by day, drawn by an ancient inner knowing.

When you find yourself striving and efforting — to achieve, to heal, to perform, or to blossom — whatever it is that feels relevant for you right now, remember:

The truest unfolding comes from tending the soil, giving space, and trusting the seed — not pushing the bloom. You can’t push it.

So let’s breathe into that space — to soften into your own natural rhythm, to trust the greater rhythms and cycles that are supporting and nourishing your growth, visibly and invisibly.

Trust that your unfolding, just like the tulip’s, is right on time.
Your journey doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.
Your growth doesn’t need to be rushed.
Your soul knows.

With love
